Greetings! I had so much fun doing my wedding blog this summer that I thought it might be fun to continue. Granted, my life is no longer chaotic with wedding planning, but I am starting this just in time for Minnesota Hunting Season. For those that know me, my husband, or our dog, you know our life is anything but ordinary.
I am starting this blog off with the realization that my husband is a hunter and with that comes his crazy cravings when he returns from a hunting trip. He just returned this past Saturday from an Elk hunting trip in Colorado. Not sure where this craving came from but he requested a cake that not only may make some a bit hesitant to say but also make sure you go to the gym before and after just having a sliver of a taste; Better Than Sex Cake. The main ingredient: sugar. Add a little German Chocolate cake to a pan, drizzle some caramel, sweetened condensed milk, chopped toffee bars, lather on some cool whip and sprinkle more chopped toffee bars. See?
My first and perhaps my last question to him, why? My husband has more of a sweet tooth than I do, which is probably why I love to bake (not cookies) but never really eat the things I bake. Why can't he crave pizza, a good steak/sirloin, wild rice soup? The cake is currently in the freezer but for those that want to try out this sinful deliciousness:
1 (18.25 oz) package of Devil's Food Cake Mix-I used German Chocolate (and all the ingredients to make it)
1/2 can (14 oz) Sweetened Condensed Milk
6 oz Caramel Sauce
3 Chocolate Covered Toffee Candy Bars- I used Heath Milk Chocolate Toffee bits (in the baking isle)
1 (8 oz) container of frozen Cool-Whip, thawed.
Directions:
Bake cake according to package directions for a 9x13 baking dish. Remove from oven and let sit for 5 minutes. Using a fork, poke holes all over the cake.
Pour the caramel sauce evenly all over the top of the cake. Then pour only half of the cane of sweetened condensed milk evenly over the top of the cake. Chop up one of the candy bars and sprinkle evenly on top. Place cake in refrigerator and let chill for a few hours to cool completely.
Remove cake from refrigerator and spread the thawed cool-whip evenly over the top. Chop up remaining two candy bars, and then sprinkle over the entire cake. Serve!
